JOHNSONVILLE, S.C. − One person died and a second was injured Thursday afternoon in a two-car crash on U.S. 378 at its intersection with S.C. 51.

The 3:30 p.m. crash happened when a southbound Hyundai on S.C. 51 ran the stop sign and was struck by a westbound Chevrolet truck, said Master Trooper Brian Lee with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The truck driver was transported to a Florence area hospital for treatment of his injuries, Lee said.

Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken identified the victim as Joan Hill Daniels, 70, of Johnsonville.

The crash remains under investigation.
