Two hurt in six-car crash near FMU Thursday morning

Six cars sit in the right-hand lane of US 76 at the FMU athletic fields Thursday morning as Florence County EMS medics assess motorists and law enforcement prepares its investigation.

FLORENCE, S.C. − Two people were transported to a Florence area hospital Thursday morning following a six-car pileup on US 76 near the FMU athletic fields.

Windy Hill firefighters, Florence County EMS medics and South Carolina troopers and transport police responded to the crash, which blocked the right-hand east-bound lane of the road for about 20 minutes.

FLORENCE, S.C. -- When officers needed to move the fifth vehicle of a six-car pileup on US 76 at the FMU athletic fields in Florence the sixth car came along with it.

A fire official said none of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
