Dr. Jonas T. Kennedy BENNETTSVILLE - Dr. Jonas T. Kennedy died on March 14, 2014 while at Morningside of Hartsville located in Hartsville, SC. He was born in Bennettsville, SC son of the late Augustus Kennedy and Grace T. Kennedy. His birth took place on February 12, 1917. He accepted Christ and joined the family church . Level Green United Methodist Church at an early age. Jonas was educated in the Marlboro County School District and entered South Carolina State University and Claflin College to further his education. He supported the educational world all his life with donations, contributions and scholarship funds. He was a principal in McBee, SC while farming on the family farm. He later purchased that farm and turned it into what is known as the Kennedy Turkey Farm. Jonas met and married his one and only love, the late Dr. Odette Miller Kennedy. This union was blessed with a daughter, Deidre. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Grace K. Prince and Thomasina Nelson; his brothers, Harold Kennedy and Augustus Kennedy. He leaves to carry on his legacy: his daughter, Deidre K. Hepburn (John) of the home; grandson, M. Alexander Kennedy-Walls, Greenville, SC; brother-in-law, Herbert Nelson, Laurinburg, NC; nieces, Grace K. Pounder, Far Rockaway, NY; Dr. Carolyn Prince, Bennettsville, SC; nephews, Ret. Lt. Jacob Haynes (LaBrenda), Manassas, VA, close family friend, Lauren Hatcher, Greenville, SC; other close relatives and friends. Visitation will take place Tuesday, March 18, 2014 - 6pm until 8pm at Quick's Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, March 19, 2014 - 3pm at Level Green United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Instead of flowers the family and friends are asked to make donations to Level Green United Methodist Church and specify cemetery committee in the "for" section of your check. Please mail to : P.O.
