Rembert McRae PateCLIO -- Mr. Rembert McRae Pate, 93, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at his home.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at McLucas Cemetery in Clio officiated by the Rev. Emily Davis and the Rev. Paul Gasque. A visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Burroughs & Cooper Funeral Home.Born, December 17, 1921 in Clio, SC he was son of the late Rembert and Sue Hall Pate. Mr. Pate graduated from Clio High School. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clio, where he served as the Superintendent of Sunday School, he was on the Board of Stewards and was a member of the Men's Club. After his high school graduation, he worked as an airplane mechanic at Palmer Airforce Field in Bennettsville. He then attended Clemson University for one year, and graduated from Conye Electric as a TV and and Radio Technician in Chicago in 1946. Mr. Rembert, then began working at Covington Hardware, and then at Hubbard's Hardware. After the Hardware stores stopped working on electronics, Mr. Pate went to work at Odom's TV in Bennettsville, where he worked until retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed his hobbies of wood carvings, and oil paintings.Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Lee Pate.He is survived by his son, Randy Pate and wife, Becky of Clio; a daughter, Janet Gaither and husband, Bill of Fort Mill, SC; a sister, Romella Waldvogel of Coal Town, PA; grandchildren, Will Gaither, Jay Gaither, Adam Pate, Jena Pate; great-grandchildren, Caroline Gaither and Ella Gaither; and his caretaker of eight years, Erlene Denise Poe.Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, PO Box 156, Clio, SC 29525.Online condolences may be made at www.bckfh.com.Burroughs & Cooper Funeral Home is assisting the Pate family.
