Sarah McElveenDARLINGTON -- Funeral service for First Lady Sara Jane Lee McElveen will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Salvation Temple Church. District Elder George McElveen, Pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc.Mrs. McElveen died Friday, March 17th in a Florence hospital. She was born in Darlington a daughter of the late Otis Sr. and Bertha Ratliff Lee.She was a 1964 graduate of Spaulding High School and attended Morris College and later Limestone College earning a degree in Business. She was a former employee of Hartsville Manufacturing Company and later L'eggs Hosiery for 29 years as a Supervisor. Early in life, she was a member of Christ Temple Holiness Church; later she became a member of Salvation Temple Church where she served in many capacities.Survivors include: her husband of 50 years, District Elder George McElveen of the home; four children: Terry (Joyce) McElveen of Hartsville, Carol (Michael) Howard of Florence, Eric (Audrey) McElveen and Kimberly (James) Jett both of Darlington; 12 grandchildren; 2 brothers: George Lee and Isaac Lee both of Darlington; 4 sisters: Grace (Conley) Shaw of Darlington, Dianne (Ray) Wright of Lamar, Betty (Donnie) Roderick of Irmo and Hattie (Garrett) Sanders of Florence; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Renee McElveen; 5 brothers: John Lee, David G. Lee, Otis Lee Jr., James Lee and Howard P. Lee.The family is receiving friends 3 to 8 p.m. daily at Salvation Temple Church, 909 Salvation Lane, Hartsville.
