FLORENCE, S.C. — The D.J. Rowell Foundation made a donation of backpacks to the children unable to leave the McLeod Regional Medical Center for Christmas. The foundation's founder and namesake, D.J. Rowell, delivered the backpacks filled with toys to a representative of the hospital Thursday morning. Rowell said the foundation should be seen giving and not giving to be seen. The foundation operates basketball camps in Marion County over the summers but was unable to do so this year to COVID-19, leaving the foundation with extra funds to donate the children's hospitals. 

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – United Way of Hartsville has completed a successful backpack initiative aimed at providing middle school and high school students’ backpacks and other essential school supplies.

It’s back to school again, and many students are getting loaded up with homework. Unfortunately, this can also mean loading up a school backpack with too many heavy books.

MULLINS, S.C. – More than 300 members of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of the State of South Carolina converged in Mullins in volunteer support of a back-to-school project that reached hundreds of people.

FLORENCE, S.C. – Recognizing that some families run out of school supplies before the end of the academic year, BlueChoice HealthPlan Medicaid will host a celebration where families can pick up free supplies and snacks, as well as enjoy entertainment by local groups, get health screenings and much more.
