JOHNSONVILLE, S.C. – The first Florence County School District Five arts gala was given the title of the Smiley Awards in honor of Superintendent Randy Smiley and his wife, Rebecca, for their appreciation of the fine arts and Smiley's dedication to providing the needs of the district to the best of his ability.

FLORENCE, S.C. -- Nov. 17, McLeod Health will conclude a year-long celebration of 110 years of providing care to the region with two free public events in downtown Florence: a Historical Marker Dedication Ceremony at the Florence County Museum, and a Commissioned Choral Symphony presented at the Francis Marion Performing Arts Center.

Rev. Dr. Sam Marcengill, pastor of the Lake City United Methodist Church, joked the church parking lot cost him two hubs caps and a tire on his first day in Lake City more than four years ago. Now, the lots are pristine and a whole lot larger. Their revitalization and expansion were phase I of a three-phase project that began construction a year ago and added 72 parking spots to the downtown campus.
