FLORENCE, S.C. – The Florence County Council district lines could look different at this time next year. Frank Rainwater, executive director of the South Carolina Revenue and Fiscal Affairs office, presented information to the Florence County Council about the county's population changes Thursday morning as the beginning of the council's redistricting process. During his presentation, Rainwater showed the council a chart indicating the current population of the nine county council districts, the ideal population of each district (15,198 people), and how much the each district is above or below the ideal population. 

PAMPLICO, S.C. – The Florence County Unified Fire District will soon have 19 new fire trucks. On the agenda for the 6 p.m. Thursday meeting of the Florence County Council is resolution for the council to approve the use of county unified fire district funds as a 10% match to support Pamplico's application for a new fire engine for the Hannah-Salem-Friendfield fire department. 

LAKE CITY, S.C. – Florence School District 3 became the latest South Carolina school district to mandate face masks Thursday. The district announced Thursday that it will require all students, staff and visitors to wear face coverings in district facilities beginning Tuesday, September 7, and continuing until further notice.
