FLORENCE, S.C. – The Florence County Council has the opportunity to help Virtus Academy make its current campus its permanent home Thursday morning. On the agenda for the 9 a.m. meeting of the county council is a resolution offering the county's support for the South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority to issue up to 415 million in bonds to fund the school's acquisition of its current campus located at 2407 Pisgah Road and the surrounding property.

FLORENCE, S.C.— Two Florence One high schools reached their highest graduation rates ever in 2021. The district announced that South Florence High School and Wilson High School reached graduation rates of 92.3% of 91.7% respectively. South Florence and Wilson’s ranking among South Carolina high schools jumped significantly. In 2020, South Florence was ranked 193rd in the state in 2020 and in 2021, it is ranked 46th. Wilson was ranked 119th in 2020 and is 56th in 2021.

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – This fall will mark the 100th anniversary of the start of classes at Butler High School. The Butler Heritage Foundation held a kickoff celebration to mark the anniversary Monday evening on the steps of the high school. The foundation will mark the anniversary with a weekend celebration on Oct. 8-10, timed to coincide with the homecoming celebrations of Coker University and Hartsville High School.
