Comprehensive immigration reform has not been passed since the Reagan administration. It’s a hot topic each election cycle, but little progress has been made over the years. Experts explain some of the recent changes that have led to an increase in activity at the border and that voters across party lines are fed up with inaction and want action on immigration reform. 

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Some Hartsville's fees will soon be changing. The Hartsville City Council voted to approve a resolution making changes to several city fees Tuesday evening. 

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina residents will soon be paying more when they fill up their cars. South Carolina's Motor Fuel User Fee (commonly known as the gas tax) is set to increase from 24 cents per gallon to 26 cents per gallon on July 1. The state's inspection fee of 0.25 cents per gallon and its environmental impact fee 0.5 cents per gallon and the federal tax of 18.4 cents per gallon of gasoline – 22.4 cents per gallon for diesel – will not increase. 

FLORENCE, S.C. – Stormwater fees will be going up in Florence after all. The Florence City Council voted Monday to approve the second and final reading of its 2021-2022 budget and to approve a stormwater fee increase to fund a bond issue that will allow the city to complete additional stormwater projects and to study ways to improve the system in the future.

Many people enjoy top-of-the-line kitchen appliances, but only to an extent. New Jersey-based retailer Designer Appliances says on its blog that not all homes will see an increase in resale value simply because of updated appliances. This could happen if it isn’t in a high-end market.
