The city of Florence, like many areas across the state and country, has experienced increases in violent crime involving the use of firearms. In 2021, there have been 12 non-fatal-related gunshot victims and four murder victims (one by knife) within the Florence Police Department's jurisdiction.

FLORENCE, S.C. – Florence-Darlington Technical College will offer a Police Pre-Academy Training Certificate to local law enforcement thanks to a newly formed partnership between the SC Technical College System and the SC Criminal Justice Academy. The 14-week certificate program will consist of four classes that are a total of 12 credit hours.

BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. – A woman who has served as the director of Drug Free Marlboro County was arrested Thursday. Pamela McLaurin Ashwood, 55, of Bennettsville, was arrested by South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents Thursday and charged with one count of grand larceny.

MARION, S.C. -- Agents from the S.C. Law Enforcement Division are investigating an incident from last week in which a shot was fired during a confrontation between a man and deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
