75 years ago, President Truman signed the National School Lunch Act, forming the National School Lunch Program, which – in turn – paved the way for the creation of other programs like school breakfast, after-school meals, summer meals and more. COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Education's health and nutrition office is looking for partners to help hand out summer meals. The department announced Thursday morning that it was seeking sponsors to partner with local government agencies, school districts, faith-based and private nonprofit organizations to provide meals.
