MARION, S.C. – Nearly a decade ago, Retired Marion County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Willie B. Ellison gathered more than 200 family members, friends and fellow law enforcement officers for a candlelight vigil and remembrance ceremony. Ellison organized the vigil recognizing more than 40 individuals after their deaths, placing their photos on display on the walls of the hallway leading up to the stairs of the Marion County Museum on Willcox Avenue.

The late 42-year veteran was given a tribute of his own Tuesday night.

Sorry if the afternoon thunderstorms last week delayed or changed your plans for tripping around the county. If, for instance, you had planned to participate in the sidewalk chalk extravaganza planned by the Arts Council of Marion County, I hope you were able to attend the make-up date for that event.
