South Florence volleyball defeats Wilson 3-1

FLORENCE, S.C. — Leilni Campbell had two aces, 17 kills, two blocks and one dig to lead South Florence to a 21-25, 25-14, 25-20 and 25-16 win over Wilson in high school volleyball action on Wednesday.

Teammate Nakalia Ellis had four aces, three kills, three blocks, and two digs.

LAKE VIEW, S.C. — Lake View’s Mamie Grossetti had three aces, 13 kills, seven assists and seven digs in the 25-8, 25-13 and 25-10 win.

The Wild Gators improved to 14-0, 8-0 Region 5-A.

East Clarendon’s Layton Barrett defeated Nicole Cook in No. 1 singles 7-6, 7-5.

Hartsville’s Dusty and Jay Braddock earn USTA awards

HARTSVILLE, S.C. − The Hartsville tennis program earned a couple of community awards this past week through the USTA.

Jay Braddock was named the Bill Lindsay Junior Leadership Award winner. This award is presented to a junior tournament, high school or grass roots player who has exemplified outstanding leadership through tennis, good sportsmanship, academic achievement and extra-curricular activities.

Coach Dusty Braddock was named the Helen Jeter League Volunteer of the Year.

The Helen Jeter award is presented to a local adult league coordinator who most contributed to the game of tennis by administering and promoting a USTA adult local league program.
