LAKE CITY, S.C. - Earlier this year Dare 2 Be D.E.A.F. (Dream. Educate. Aim. Focus.) awarded its first scholarship to graduating senior Jakira Goodman of Lake City High School.

In addition to helping with the cost of tuition the group also took scholarship applicants shopping for items to aid in the "transition from home to college."

Applicants Dynesha McFadden (Greenville Technical College), Shatari Dunmore (Clemson University), Dawanya Burgess (Claflin University), and scholarship recipient Goodman (Coastal Carolina University) were treated by the group to a back-to-school shopping spree.

Items ranged from book bags to comforter sets to washing detergent. Cara Singletary with the group said they are grateful for supporters and will continue to utilize the group's resources to give back to our community.
