The store in downtown Hartsville will feature vinyl records, CDs, magazines, comics and media equipment like record players. They also plan on selling beer and wine.
“It's just going to be a unique place for people to come and hang out, not only to buy music, but listen to it, to meet people in downtown Hartsville,” O'Neal said.
The Hartsville baseball and softball teams picked up lopsided shutout victories on Friday and other high school recaps from the Pee Dee area.
O'Neal said it was a lifelong dream of his to own a store like this.
He has lived in Hartsville all his life, and at 59 years old, he decided to make it happen.
He made a post on Facebook asking what people in the community would think about him opening a record store. After a lot of positive feedback, Synder and O'Neal started to make the plan.

“We didn't really know what we were doing, but we just decided to take a chance,” O'Neal said. “And we’ve still got a little bit to do before May the first but it's coming together. And I'm super excited.”
O'Neal has always had a love for music and been a collector of vinyl records. He’s also DJ’d around town under the name Retro Ralph for the last 10 years.

“It's just a dream for me, you know?” he said. “And when you work all your life, like I said, I'll be 59 in July, and just the fact that I'm at this point of my life and I'm getting to do something that I really love.”
O'Neal said he has been doing a lot of research about music he doesn't know so he can have something in the store for everyone.
“I'm going to be in the shop majority of the time. It's going to be my main focus,” O'Neal said. “I'm very knowledgeable in music. I look forward to helping people learn about music. It's going to be a learning experience for us, too. But I can't wait.”
