Artist lineup set for Florence Regional Arts Alliance’s ‘Small Works’ exhibition

More than 90 entries by 79 artists were received from cities throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and newly added Tennessee.

The exhibit will showcase both emerging and seasoned professional artists. These works by artists are no larger than 12” x 12” x 12” and will be available for purchase.
The size of these pieces allows for an affordable way for local art patrons to either complement, add to, or begin a personal art collection.
Bostic will choose the winning pieces, and they will be awarded $800 (first place), $450 (second place), $350 (third place), and a Juror’s Recognition, compliments of awards sponsor Florence School District 1.
Organized by the FRAA, the show is hosted by HopeHealth at their new building, the Streater Community Center, located in downtown Florence. In addition to serving as an art gallery, the facility acts as a community meeting space and offers year-round programming.
The exhibition will commence with the opening reception on Aug. 28, 6 p.m., with light fare by catering sponsor Notch 8, where winners will be announced.
The reception is free and open to the public, and the artwork will be on display until Oct. 9. It’s available for viewing Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a special Saturday opening on Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
FRAA is a community-based arts agency dedicated to serving the citizens of the Greater Florence County area. It is partially funded by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, in addition to individual and corporate donations and grants.
