Ruiz Foods pledges $100,000 to MUSC cancer center in Florence
FLORENCE, S.C. -- Ruiz Foods Products, one of the largest businesses in Florence and largest frozen Mexican food manufacturer in the nation, has pledged to donate $100,000 over the next five years to support a new cancer care facility planned at MUSC's Florence medical center.

MUSC Foundation Regional Health Development Director Kim Therrien, CEO of MUSC Health Pee Dee Division Jay Hinesley, Director of Marketing and Public Relations MUSC Health Pee Dee Division Kim Geiger, Ruiz Foods owners Fred Ruiz and Kim Ruiz Beck, and MUSC Health Pee Dee Division Chief Operating Officer Jason Cox.
In February 2025, MUSC announced plans to build a 63,000 square foot cancer center. The new facility will be located at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center and be part of MUSC Hollings Cancer Center.
The building will provide the Pee Dee region with expanded cancer services and clinical trials, according to a release by MUSC and Ruiz Foods.
MUSC set to open a "free-standing E.D." in West Florence in November.
“This generous, multi-year commitment from Ruiz Foods is a powerful vote of confidence in our vision for the new cancer center and in the future of cancer care for the Pee Dee,” said Jay Hinesley, CEO of MUSC Health Pee Dee Division.
